Common Questions

Body Drainage, Answered

For most procedures, 48 hours is the earliest. Some surgeons prefer 72 hours; we'll follow your surgeon's instruction. If you're more than 48 hours post-op and haven't started drainage yet, it's not too late — come in as soon as you can.
Lymphatic drainage is the lightest-pressure modality in bodywork. Most clients describe it as the opposite of painful — a release rather than a push. If you're sore, we work around it.
Typical recovery protocols run 10 – 20 sessions over 12 – 16 weeks. We plan your cadence at the first visit and adjust based on how your body responds. You will never be booked into sessions you don't need.
Lymphatic drainage for post-operative cosmetic recovery is typically not insurance-covered. We can provide a receipt suitable for HSA/FSA submission. Some clients with medically necessary lymphedema may have coverage — contact us to discuss.

Post operative Lymphatic drainage massage reduces swelling throughout the body by gently moving and improving the flow of lymph fluid. Which makes lymphatic massage perfect for anyone who has undergone surgery, either cosmetic or reconstructive since swelling is part of the body’s natural healing process. We use the Vodder technique which is painless but effective.

FAQ

##

DO LYMPHATIC MASSAGES HURT?

No, lymphatic massages are gentle and should not hurt. We use the Vodder technique, which consists of light traction without oil to guide the inflammation towards the lymph nodes.

##

HOW MANY MASSAGES DO I NEED?

Each client is unique. Depending on the procedure you’ve had, we will come up with a personalized plan of treatment. In general, the best thing to do is begin recovery treatment early to prevent issues like seromas and fibrosis which require more sessions to correct.

HOW SOON SHOULD I START?

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is recommended starting 3 days post-surgery. For a personalized approach or any post-op questions, schedule a consultation.
